Tobi Olajide is a Nigerian-American filmmaker based between Atlanta and Los Angeles whose work utilizes afrosurrealism and heightened realism to examine the friction of displacement and otherness. Raised between Nigeria and the United States, his cinematic voice is rooted in the act of cultural translation—exploring how individuals navigate spaces of erasure, surveillance, and systemic isolation.

Having trained at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, his films have screened at Oscar-qualifying festivals and screenings nationwide. Tobi has created award-winning work for The New York Times (Apple Design Award 2024, Webby 2024) and Google, alongside music videos. 

Recognized by the City of Los Angeles for his contributions to arts and culture, he is currently directing and producing Negritude, an afrosurreal film trilogy weaponizing genre to explore how diasporic youth navigating hegemonic structures.
